Greetings from the Governing Council!

Meeting Minutes:

The new Chicago Shambhala Governing Council offers warm greetings to all Chicago Shambhala Center members and friends.  We send you this brief message to introduce ourselves.

We officially took our seats on Shambhala Day, February 14, 2010. The Governing Council is represents a major step in our community’s progress over the last several years in which we engaged in Listening/Visioning Workshops, adopted a Vision Statement, began a Vision to Action (VTA) process, formed working committees, crafted a new organizational structure, and raised funds for a full-time Center Director.

The Governing Council seats the heads of four major sectors in our mandala: Programming, Practice and Study; Community; Kasung; and Finance. In addition, there are a Chair and Vice-Chair to focus and lead the Governing Council’s priorities and proceedings. The new Center Director will report to the Governing Council and provide the Center day-to-day management and leadership. The Governing Council’s first major priority—the selection of a new Center Director– was completed in March with the selection and appointment of Tom Adducci.

We welcome feedback from all community members and will be regularly communicating our activities through a number of channels, including the Center website at www.chicagoshambhala.org, and on the Center’s bulletin board by the front entrance. Governing Council meetings will be open and include a time for community comments. The Governing Council is committed to the care of our community and the growth our mandala in a sustainable manner. We look forward to sharing our journey together as we relate to our basic goodness create Enlightened Society here and now.
